I was all set to make my dad's Father's Day card this week. I was only sure of two things: I would use PTI's Father Knows Best for the stamps, and the color scheme would be white, brown, and red. So . . . I sit down to make the card and run into a problem. I don't actually own Father Knows Best. Yeah, I've thought about it so much that I guess I just kind of bought it by osmosis? :-> Hee! This slight complication leads me online to look at some blogs and get some new inspiration. I visit Joyce at Cards-by-the-Sea, and WOW, the colourQ color palette she used on her cool Shine card grabs me! So I rethink everything, check to make sure I have Masculine Motifs, and adopt colourQ's challenge #141 as my colors. Here's their perfect masculine palette:
Love it! And here's my revised Father's Day card:
It's sort of CAS, and some the layers are popped up with dimensionals, the highest of which is under the globe. I used a herringbone embossing folder on the white card front. It sort of looks like chevrons in the photo, which is kind of cool. :-) I hope those of you lucky enough to celebrate this Sunday with your dad have a fun and blessed day!
Supplies
stamps: PTI--Masculine Motifs

Great card Jill! I love the embossing in the background most of all - now I need that embossing folder!!
You are too funny...love the stamp story Jill! And your Father's Day card is SUPER. I like all of the layers and your clean wrapped twine...no bows or knots, great for a guy! Enjoy your weekend ;)
Jill, this is a great CAS card! i love the embossing on the card base. Great take on the color challenge!
Lovely Father's Day card, Jill, I am sure you mean the world to him as well! Thanks for joining us at the ColourQ this week and sharing your card!
Funny how we start out with one thing on our mind and wind up with something completely different! And this is a wonderful father's day card! Thanks for joining us at colourQ!
I love your CAS card Jill. It's funny how we sometimes think we own sets we don't actually have. Happens to me!- irma

Perfect masculine card, Jill! And I love the colors on that challenge. oh and I often do what you did...think I have something I didn't buy, LOL!
LOL @ not actually having the set; silly girl!
Well I love this card...very CAS....but elegant just like all the rest of your cards.
Got my rings from Jen too - was kinda bummed that they weren't packaged like yours was. Not for me, moreso for the gal I had order with me, I told her and look at the packaging! Ah well. the ring is a beauty though.
Jill, this is such a clean and striking card. The image really pops against the white background and all the layers of blues. I always struggle with CAS .. this design is great, because I can add lots of colour in the background and still have a clean design on the front. Definitely going in my sketch book for future reference.
Fab card Jill. Had to laugh at your discovery but this card turned out great. Love all the layers and the striking design :)
I really love this card Jill. The colour scheme is spot on and the layers look great.
Fabulous card, Jill! I love it!
So clean, simple and fabulous!!
Love the little bit of wrapped twine. :)
